It does create more anxiety as well feeling the “obligation” of not doing the so-called ‘giving up’. You’re right about many points about trying to control whatever we really value as an achievement and we do not have control over it but the fact that someone realizes that the combo marriage-children-dog-at to be happy formula is not for her/him, society might think that she/he had given up on love etc, adding to this person more anxiety each time the judgement looks lays on her/him.
